Longyearbyen, Svalbard, Norway

This northern brewery is located in the harsh atmosphere of cold and snow. In the 1920s it was prohibited to produce alcohol in this region, however, local breweries fought with the government to change the law – and succeeded. The water used for these beers is taken from a local ancient glacier, which makes this beer as harsh and strong as the atmosphere around the brewery. This beer can be really called a drink for explorers. Founding a brewery in such conditions is extremely hard, but the owners of Svalbard brewery proved that it is possible to make something outstanding in the hardest environment.

Uiltje Brewing Company (Swinkels Family Brewers), Netherlands

This brewery was opened in Haarlem with the idea to make the best Dutch beer. Today, they are really included in the list of the best breweries in the world. The key to their success is their constant experimenting with ingredients and processes. They get ingredients from around the world to make their star beers, pale ales, and rock beers, such as Bird of Prey, IPA, and Cascade green sweater. 

Cape Town, South Africa

South Africa is home to many good wines. However, this is not the only thing that is good there. The Beerhouse is a famous brewery located in Cape Town, exactly in the center. Beerhouse has a showroom with 99 brands produced locally and internationally. You can get acquainted with local breweries, however, small they are, without much traveling around. Tempest Brewing Co, Scotland

Tempest Brewing Co originally appeared in New Zealand and then was moved to Scotland. They got several awards and host beer festivals, including Springfest and Oktoberfest. Among their selected drinks, you can find IPA, pale ale, alcohol-free pale, stout, barrel-aged scotch ale, lager, and spiced imperial stout.

Vleteren, Belgium

Belgium is famous for its Trappist breweries, the ones founded by Trappist monks centuries ago. One of them is the Abbey of St. Sixtus in West Flanders. The beer here has a long-running history from 1839. Though the brewery tradition is quite old, it became so popular only these days because of the attention of authorities. What’s interesting is that beer is a real treasure here. So you are not allowed to buy more than two boxes with 24 bottles each and you can’t make a reservation twice in two months. Mad Fritz is a great brewery in St. Helena, California. The brewery is located in Napa Valley. What makes it unique is the way of finding ingredients. Mad Fritz follows the approach of using single-origin resources. They take water from natural springs nearby and use locally grown hops and malt that are nurtured according to organic principles. The beers are naturally carbonated in the bottle, which influences their specific tastes and appearance. 

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Drinking beer is one of the Vietnamese traditions. One of the famous breweries there, called Saigon’s Pasteur Street Brewing Company, brings together the traditions of American and Vietnamese brewing. In all, they make 200 types of beer, all of which are produced from local ingredients. If you wanna try the true taste of Vietnam, go to Pasteur Street Brewing. They make beers out of interesting local ingredients, including fruit (pomelo and dragonfruit), and flowers (jasmine). Ollantaytambo, Peru

Peru is famous for its traditional beer called chicha. This kind of beer is made of traditional plants – corn – and is sometimes fermented in a special way using saliva. So you should beware of this local peculiarity before trying it. However, today they also have nice breweries made according to more modern technologies, including Cerveceria del Valle. The brewery is located in magical mountains, so if you have a chance to visit it yourself, you should definitely try it!
